Licence Application

Licence Application

Pupils must hold a full car licence and provisional entitlement for  Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) / Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV).

To obtain provisional entitlement, a medical certificate (Form D4) must be completed by a doctor (if desired our company doctor can undertake the medical, this is usually much cheaper than your own doctor).

Application forms (D1 & D750) must also be completed, indicating whether you require LGV , PCV entitlement, or both. The completed forms, your car licence, identification should be sent to 'The Vocational Team' DVLC, Swansea. SA99 1BR.

When you receive you will require an assessment to establish the amount of training required. You must train and pass the LGV Category C (Rigid) test before you can go for LGV Cat C+E (Artic, trailer drawing vehicle) test.

After you gain the provisional you need to sit a theory test. To prepare for this test test you will need to study the Theory book and the Hazard Perception disk; we have these available for purchase in the training centre.

You then need to sit an assessment, which will let us determine how many days you should need to reach test standard. Practical training and test then follows (please call us for details of assessment charges, current daily rates and test fees).
